Peppermint (Mentha Piperitta) - Perennial herbaceous plants valued for its ornamental and culinary uses. Easy and fast growing, its highly fragrant leaves are super refreshing with cooling sensation. Looks pretty grown in pots or directly in the ground. Fresh or dried, this herb is always useful to have around. Requires minimum care.
Growing: Planting season: year round in warm/tropical climates; in temperate climates - early spring, indoors, 4-6 weeks prior the danger of last frost is gone and later transplant the seedlings when they have two true leaves outdoors. Direct seeding when the danger of last frost is gone and soil is workable. Soil: well drained, fertile soil, preferably rich in organic matter. Sowing depth: sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil and do not cover, as they need light to germinate. Spacing: 12-16in (30-40cm). Light: full sun/partial shade. Watering: regular to keep the soil moist but not wet. Fertilizing: not needed. Seeds germinate in about 15 days with an optimum soil temp. 68-70F (+20-21C).
